XP says USB devise is unknown.

My PVR can be updated by USB for both new firmware & new applications.
Yesterday when I connected the laptop to the machine I got the message
that the USB was an unknown devise. This pop up window kept on popping
up & only disappeared after about pooping up 6 times. I have transferred
data both into & out of machine many times before.

I have tried other USB devises in the slot & they work OK. I have tried
reinstalling the driver for the devise but the laptop continues to say
it's an unknown devise. How do I fix this?

Have you done a REstart of the machine yet? If not, do so.

Has it ever worked? If not, you may be able to get newer drivers from
the PVR manufacturer's website.
If it's just stopped working then that's more difficult.

It has worked many times in the past.
