xp repair nightmare

Hi,

I need your help. I hope you have come across this one before.

I put my windows cd into my work laptop to see would i get the repair option
(thinking I could enter my Encryption Plus password and then have it boot
from the windows cd).

All I did was boot from it to the screen where it shows the drives didn't
repair or delete, just turned it off.

Now it won't boot. I get 'Error loading operating system'.

Is my data lost forever? Please help me..

Use "hiren boot CD" (or similar CD) and run the miniXP from it. Then you can
easilly check whether your data are intact (by simply using the windows
explorer inside the miniXP.)

Don't worry. I doubt your data is gone. Probably only the windows
boot/system files are damaged.

I would like to add, if you are not a computer geek, you are better off to
rescue your data to another drive (like a USB flash) using the hiren boot
cd, and then reinstall your windows (using for example the ecovery cd which
came with your computer)

'Encryption Plus' rings an alarm bell. This sounds like the disk itself is
encrypted. Be very careful what you do here, or you could destroy any chance
of recovering your data. Best speak to an expert on this particular
encryption system, which I am not.
