XP reinstall

J

jay

I am receiving the following error when booting from the Windows XP CD:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage
to your computer

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your
computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives
or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is
properely configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive
corruption, and then restart your computer.

Technical information:

*** stop: 0x00000007B (0xF78D2524, 0x0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

any ideas in solving this?

Jay, try disconnecting anything you don't need for the reinstall. Go into
the Bios and set it for Default Settings. If you have
SATA Drives you will need to have the drivers on a floppy or CD and load
them by pressing F6 at the very beginning of
install of WinXP. Finally, do check your hard drive by using the Recovery
Console. Check here for more info
