XP-"Product Re-Activation" after Mobo Upgrade.

Peter S.

I plan on transferring all of my
current Storage configurations (Hard Drives, CD-ROM,
etc., etc.) which includes, of course, my Windows XP SP1
(plus XP-Updates) setup & my Windows XP "Production
Activation" code(s), from a i845E-based motherboard(P4
2.0A; PC2100) to a i865PE-based motherboard(P4 2.6C;
PC3200). Could you please tell me how this "transfer"
will effect my current XP-Product Activation arrangement
with Microsoft; and if there is any action(s) that I must
take in order to keep my Windows XP SP1 Home Edition
viable following this "Mobo Upgrade"? Thank you.

This article might help you round any problem. I have used the Win2k version
and it works a treat. You may still need to re-activate, but wont need to
re-install.

Jupiter Jones [MVP],
Thanks for your response. As I am the one asking
questions here, I'll rely on your intuition and follow
your advice. As I mentioned to "Cacular", I just don't
want to be faced with a "cram-course" in "Windows XP SP1-
Retail" "Product Re-Activation" after going through the
laborious task of "implanting" a new motherboard (while,
essentially, utilizing all of the other pre-existing H/W &
S/W configurations). Thanks again for your advice! Peter
S.
