XP Pro Services/Settings

In an effort to eliminate unnecessary(I thought) services, I changed the
settings for practically all of the services(including the 'log on as' tab).

I can find the recommended/default settings, but they don't include the
information regarding the 'log on tab' which is usually local system or local
services.

I'm running XP Pro on one computer-no network, broadband internet. I had to
do a repair install which help, but I'm still having issues-will not
shutdown, etc

For shutdown,open system properties,advanced,start up/recovery,in the OS
window,the last words should read "fast detect" with SP1 only,with SP2,"No
Execte=Optin" Any more,edit,delete,if another line exist,delete.

May I ask on just how did you arrive at this wrong answer that you gave the OP on his shutdown issue?
