XP Pro Service Pack 2 - Hogging disk space

I use XP pro 2002 and recently downloaded SP2.
I find that this process has chewed up an additional 2 Gig or so of disk
space.
I like to delete off irrelevant, redundant, and other generally useless
files from my C: drive (it is an old, tiny, 8GB drive. Itend to keep
everything on an external 80G drive).
Did the SP2 update create backup/copy files that I can remove to free up
space?
Thanks

As long as you chose the correct option. Check the add remove programs for
SP2. I just do not understand why everyone is rushing into this if they do
not have major problems that need to be fixed.
