XP pro networking

Hi. Been working on getting my two home computers going with XP on both.

Anyway, when c1 tries to access c2 (and vise versa) I get a popup that asks
for name and password of the other computer. Don't have password enabled on
either computer, and guest is disabled too. Any help on disabling name and
password?

Using a ldink router (DI-604). WinXP pro on both.
Thanks

This is normal behavior when using accounts with no passwords. To avoid
this, use passwords. If you still run into trouble, create the same named user
account on each machine and assign it the same password.

Without passwords, XP would let you access a limited amount of network
resources via the Guest account but you have that disabled too. This isn't
really a problem (I keep that account disabled on my network setup too) but
the network needs to authenticate you somehow before letting you fool
around in the file system. Hence, the password prompt.

If you are hesitant to use passwords because you don't want to lose an
automatic logon, change your tactics. Use something like TweakUI to
automatically log you on. TweakUI is one of the Power toys for XP
available here:
