XP Pro install problems after hardware switch

I used to have an AMD Athlon processor and a compatible
motherboard that ran Windows XP Professional perfectly.
I just recently upgraded my motherboard and processor to
Pentium 4 - 3.0 GHZ and now XP Pro is having many
problems.

Full Story:

I decided to format my harddrive and reinstall Windows
XP Professional. During the installation I recieved
several messages telling me that various (and different)
files weren't copied correctly from the CD-ROM. I hit
retry, and the installation continued. Then during the
Windows setup process, I received numerous errors that
ultimately would not allow me to complete setup and load
XP Pro. I repeated this process 7 times until finally XP
Pro loaded, but there is much instability. I even used a
different disc to install Windows XP Pro and it did the
same thing. Now I'm stuck without a clue!

Thanks for the help y'all,

Jonathan

It sounds like your cd drive is having problems. A new one may be needed to
install XP Pro.

I don't think that's the solution because both CD-ROM
drives were working perfectly before the hardware swap.
I used 2 drives and 2 discs. No dice though
