I have 2 computers running xp pro. both connect to the
net via nic cards to a d-link router, which is connected
to a cable modem. neither is a host computer. both
connect separately to the router. no problems. but i
cannot see the other computer, via work group functions.
one cannot see the other therfore there is no file
sharing. I have no idea how to change the settings to
access the other computer. playing games via lan is ok.
any ideas?

1.)Make sure that both computers are operating under the
same workgroup name and using a common protocol set ( I
assume both computers are using TCP/IP.)Right Click My
Computer and select "Properties" and "Computer name".
Ensure that the two computers share a common workgroup
name.
2.) If you are not using the "Administrator" user
account, ensure that an account exsists on both computers
with common access rights. for your purposes, just
create or modify an account on each computer that
has "Computer Administrator" access rights and give the
accounts the same user name and password. this should
solve the problem.
