XP Pro Backup Fails

Guest

When running XP backup, I get what looks like a successful backup, but the
log says 0 files were backed up. No error messages or Event Logs are
generated. When I run in ASR mode, I get the message "the files for the
recovery disk could not be created."

I tried the following with no avail:

1. Floppy disk in the A: drive
2. Replace floppy drive
3. Disable Volume Shadow
4. Backup to local disk
5. Backup to network drive
6. Backup source changed to a variety of sources.

All did nothing.

Any ideas out there, please?

I would suggest that you simply switch to a better backup solution. There
are many, one is Backup Plus:

What happens when you select just one file to backup?

Good idea!

I can't select individual files at all. Right click over them shows both
select and deselect disabled!

On further examination, I have noted that there is one suspicious entry in
the "excluded files" settings. A category "DRM" has excluded all files of
type \*.

When I delete that entry and close the dialog box, it pops back in again!

I am assuming DRM means "Digital Rights Management" which I will now rename
as "Digital No Rights Managment"

I guess I didn't read the fine print when I downloaded Windows Media Player
or something!

Hello Linux?

Mmm, before you give up, have a look on the Microsoft site
if you haven't already. I wasn't able to find anything, but
you might.

I did a bit of research and the excluded file type for DRM
on my machine is set to <drive>\Documents and Settings\All
Users\DRM. Try setting it to that rather than removing it.
