XP only boots with install disk in cdrom

Dan

Can anyone help? This is my problem. Just installed XP
Home, a fresh install. When I reboot with out the install
disk in the cdrom it just comes up with "Hit any key to
Reboot" right after bios screens. I've tried to use
fixmbr and fixboot and I still have the same problem.
When I have WinXP home install disk in the drive it works
fine.

Hi Dan,

I can't be sure, but I would guess the problem is in BIOS setting. It looks
to me that it is set to only boot from CD. Can you check these settings and
make sure, that HDD is e.g. second on the list of bootable devices?

Hi,

Happens once in a while. Before running fixboot from the Recovery Console,
run "del C:\boot.ini" first.
