XP not booting after Partition Magic work

C

cavenhedges

Good day, I installed Partition Magic on one of my computers the othe
day with the intent of merging the c and d partion. I started wit
converting both partions to NTFS from FAT or FAT 32, I can't remember
That went well. I could reboot, etc. I tried to merge the tw
partitions but received an error that said I had a cluster siz
mismatch. I attempted to match both, and wound up adjusting the
drive. Windows started to make the changes, then stopped and sai
something about an error. It attempted to reboot, then hangs every tim
at the "boot from CD failure" line. I can access DOS. I hav
an upgrade version of XP home that had been installed. I had 9
installed, and didn't keep the disk after the installation, which is
probloem in itself. When I insert the XP disk, it appears to want t
install an new instance of the S/W, which I don't want to do. Any idea
how to get me back to the state I was in before the cluster adjustement
I hope I haven't ruined the current instance, I would hate to loos
programs, links, etc. I saved some of the stuff from the D drive befor
I made the changes but didn't get everything I wanted saved.
appreciate the help. Cave
