XP Networking, AGAIN!

OK this is ridiculous. First time around, XP stops
displaying my router on the UPnP network devices window so
I can no longer control it without logging in and manually
controlling it, which is a pain. Apparently it did this
because I have multiple LAN connections (two firewire and
the ethernet).

Now I pop onto my ISP's site to perform a speed test, and
I wind up finding out that Java is COMPLETELY gone from my
system! XP randomly decided to remove it, and do NOT tell
me it isn't gone, because I've looked! Win update won't
give me the Virtual Machine downloads again because I
downloaded them once already. I mean IE has NO Java
options anymore, running 'jview' doesn't work because the
executable isn't on my system.

How the heck do I force XP to work right? Jesus, I JUST
formatted in January and since then my burner died, so I
cannot simply do my usual format and reinstall every time
XP gets crappy. I want to see my UPnP devices again (XP
knows they are there, because I can run ANY MS app and it
uses the UPnP devices), I want my Java stuff back WITHOUT
going off and downloading it, and I want XP to stop doing
crap on it's own. I already manage my own swap and have a
lot of automated crap turned off. But seriously, this is
really ticking me off since I can't format. I mean I never
had Win3.11 give me any trouble, never had any trouble out
of 95 or 98SE, but XP is pathetic. If MS would write P4
support into 98SE I'd still use it.

If this was really because "XP is pathetic" and "gets crappy"
then the symptoms you are describing would be happening to
everyone that is running XP. But that is not the case I assure
you. Gee, what could be the difference then? Maybe your
"crappy" hardware and or "crappy" third party programs you
are running. Or maybe your "crappy" security measures.

****ing retard. I build my machines with only the top of
the line shit, which doesn't mean AMD. If ASUS
motherboards, Creative Audigy IIs, nVidia FX cards, Serial
ATA drives, and Plextor CD/DVD-burners are cheap, you're
smoking something better than pot. I run XP on this one
box, and it is giving me Hell, and always has. However, my
FIVE Win98SE boxes are god-like, and so are my Linux
servers. I'm not some dumbass kid, and I probably know
more than you. However, I do not have the WinXP/Win32 API
sources, and thus cannot fix what M$ didn't catch. As it
stands, one of my problems is a KNOWN issue, but even
after MONTHS, M$ has not released a fix. If it was a
newfound problem, I'd shut-up, but XP is breaking my
network and it's pissing me off.

Oh, and I won't comment on the security shit. Enjoy your
Linksys router and all the back-doors and non-compliance
that come with it. I have a $300 router that'd smoke yours.
