XP memory dump and reboot problem

I have had a memory dump after I get a bsod and then text telling me there
was an error.

When it reboots the system is looking for the computers mac address in an
endless search.

What is the content of the BSOD? We need the complete STOP code, all
4 parameters, and any file or module names mentioned.

Good luck

The bsod lasts about 5 seconds or so while the memory dumps itself and the
machine reboots itself. At the moment, I can't get xp to reload because I am
in DOS mode searching for the MAC address. The only message is the mac
address and the little dial circling while the system is searching.

The first time this occured I did a full reformat and reinstalled XP. The
second time I pulled the cable from the HD at the MB and moved it to slot
two. The third time I moved it to slot 3. The 4th time I put the cable back
in slot 2. Each time I move the cable I run error free for about 2 hours.

I have an Intel 975xbx with the Intel MB monitor and temperatures and
voltages are in the green zones. The system has run fine for the last 9
months.

Please post an exact copy of the Stop Error Report!

Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by
allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Right click on
the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties, Advanced,
Start-Up and Recovery, System Failure and uncheck box before
Automatically Restart.

Do not re-enable automatic restart on system failure until you have
resolved the problem. Check for variants of the Stop Error message.

An alternative is to keep pressing the F8 key during StartUp and select
option - Disable automatic restart on system failure.

Hope this helps.
