I have a windows ME/XP dual boot system. By mistake, i restared with the
Windows ME CD in the CD ROM and since then, the dual boot screen disappeared
and the system automatically loads windows ME. Is there a way to fix xp and
retrieve the dual boot screen again? or should i install xp again?

Your first step should be to examine the file c:\boot.ini.
Does it have a timeout greater than 0? Does it list your
two boot items? If unsure, post the file here.

Start / run / notepad c:\boot.ini {OK} will let you have a look at it.

timeout is 30. The file is as follows:
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /fastdetect
C:\="Microsoft Windows"

BTW, windows xp is on partition E and ME is on C
