XP Logon to domain

Hi all,

Have a problem with being able to logon to laptop with domain
credentials when Saftenet (Zyxel VPN client) is installed.

An error is returned stating that it cannot find the DC, normally when
working offline and using network credentials this allows the logon
using cached credentials

Is it possible that the vpn adapter is trying to create a connection to
validate logon at this point. The VPN connection works once logged on.
Why cannot it not use the cached credentials until the VPN connection
is initiated?

Systems are XP sp2 laptop with Zyxel VPN client connecting to Zyxel 70
security device.

any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Regards

Gary

Sounds like name resolution or DNS issue instead of credentials issue. which DNS do you use when establishing the VPN?

Hi Robert,

The DNS from the VPN adapter would likely be the ISP DNS if the VPN connection was being used. The laptop would normally pick up the IP of the DNS server through DHCP for the local network. That has given me something to think about thanks.
