XP Logon - New email notification

Hi,

Unlike all of the other posts in the forum on this topic, I actually like
the unread email notification and want to keep it. It seems to be working
for me, except...

I have 4 accounts in Thunderbird (this *is* a supported client)
(e-mail address removed)
(e-mail address removed)
(e-mail address removed)
(e-mail address removed)

However, the only new mail that is being shown is for (e-mail address removed)

My wife also uses the same machine and the same email program (Thunderbird),
but she has a seperate account. She only has 1 email account and her number
of unread emails shows up fine.

Is there any way I can get my other 3 accounts to show, too? I've tried
TweakUI (repait unread email count) and also manually editing the registry.
Interestingly, editing the registry works, but doesn't update the unread
count for the other 3 accounts.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks
Matt

No, not in the same User Account.

So how does Windows know which of these accounts to show me on the login
screen?

The advice at:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304148/en-us
shows an example where the logon screen is showing that a user has 3 unread
messages:

(e-mail address removed) (2)
(e-mail address removed) (1)

....so it would suggest that it can be done, it just appears to be broken.

Here's my understanding of this feature, Matt: Unread Mail count will be
displayed for the default mail account in the supported Mail Client (e.g.,
(e-mail address removed)) and any (e-mail address removed) and/or (e-mail address removed) accounts
running in the Mail Client.

As MSN/Hotmail accounts can't be accessed using TBird, you're left with the
one (1) default account.

Hi PA Bear,

Thanks for your response. That explains it then. I didn't know that it
will only look at the first (default) account per user. I guess the MS
example on their website made it look as though you could have multiple email
accounts showing up (which is sort of true), but as long as they also
included MSN and Hotmail accounts.

Thanks for your help. I can sleep easy now and stop trying to fix it.
(Although as a suggestion, it would be good to have a workaround to get
multiple pop email accounts to work, but that's for another day!)

Cheers,
Matt
