XP Locks up on "My computer" and "send to"...

I have XP home edition. I crashed last week and have
subsequently loaded my "98", ME and finished off with XP.
I am experiencing a problem that has never manifest
itself before. When I click on "my computer", instead of
getting the usual drives and devices, I get
the "flashlight" search and it goes on forever. The same
thing happens if I try to open "My computer" in Windows
Explorer. Also, my system locks up when I try to "Send".
Doesn't matter where I'm trying to "send to" it still
locks up. Anybody tell me what's going on?

I'm having the same problem.... I have Windows XP SP1 Roll Up 1 installed, after 30 minutes of activity the computer just freezes. When I try to run a program it won't open, when I open My PC I get the flashlight and nothing happens. I've installed this version of windows on two more computers and the same happens. This didn't happen two months ago where I had the same version running clean and smooth.
