Xp locking up after SP2

Another mess from MS and no one to call there for help
without getting charged!!

Since I've downloaded the new security update SP2, my
computer has been locking up and stops running programs at
random. I ran a fix disk, defrag and then ran Norton
tools to no avail-but no problems were found anyway, I use
Norton Antivirus program and the free version of Zone
Alarm for the firewall plus MS has initiated it's own
firewall. I ran the Norton system doctor to see if it
would detect any problems while the computer was running
and none...except when the computer locked up Norton
warned that the processor was at 100% usage-something that
hadn't happened before SP2. Also when I do a control-alt-
delete it may take a while for the box to appear-if at
all, and sometimes the box says certain items are running
and sometimes their not responding. The only way to get
the computer running again is to shut down and repower up.

I'm using XP Home on a 900mhz T-Bird with 384mg of ram and
a 40gig harddrive-if any of this matters.

Any suggestions would be appreciated-thanks.

Did you turn off the MS firewall?
Did you update the Norton software, which is a known incompatability?
Did you read the update instructions to prepare your computer for SP2?

Not quite right. MS has free support for SP2 problems:

luminos,
I am running Norton SystemWorks 2004 and using LiveUpdate. NSW appears to
be causing problems with XP SP2 and IE6 (esp., Norton Password Manager).
Are there known incompatibilities between NSW2004 and XPSP2?
Where can I find them described?
Rick
