i have just bought a xp home and xp pro to install on my pc
and did a registration to microsoft via internet.

Now i have some problems on my pc and i had it reformated
using the xp CDs and managed to installed back the OS but
when i do a registration again microsoft prompt me that a copy
has been registered.

how can I resolve this problem? how can i resolve this problem?
Does it mean that one license can only register once? If my pc has
problems and need to reinstall the OS then how can I use back the
license that I purchased.

Need advise urgently

Registration is optional and only need be done once if you choose to do it.
So skip registration on a reinstall.

If instead you are talking about activation, that is not a problem either.
Since you are reinstalling on the same PC activation should be automatic.
If for some reason it does not successfully activate over the internet,
choose to activate by phone instead.

Just go through the telephone option. If you do in fact own x keys for x
computers (not 1 key 2 computers) then just do it that way.

They'll ask for a series of numbers, type into your phone, then tell the
person on the line you only have the one computer running that key.

Hi,

Are you saying that if I reinstall the xp on the same computer, it will
not prompt for activation again.

No, I am saying that if you do, it will activate automatically over the
internet at the end of the install since the reinstall is on the same
hardware. And I am saying you can skip registration as it is both
optional, and for you already done since you registered the first time you
installed.
