XP Language Translations

Hi,
I have recently bought Microsoft XP Professional while I
was on holiday in Hong Kong. I tried to install it onto
my computer but it obviously is in Simplified Chinese,
and the problem is that I can't read it! Is there any way
that I can change it to English?

I have tried going to the Control Panel and changing the
Language And Region settings to English but it still does
not work.

Kind Regards

Hi,

In a word: No

In many words: You need to purchase and install an English version of WinXP.
You cannot simply switch the language. The language support you looked at
was for supporting multiple languages in applications, not for the operating
system itself, and even that has limits.

Sorry, you can't change. You are going to have to learn Chinese or buy a
English version of XP.

Hello Nutcase,
Just curious, could you do a dual boot with two versions of XP, one English
and the other whatever language ?

Greetings --

You cannot upgrade or convert from one language version of the an
OS to another, so you'll have to purchase and use the full version of
English WinXP to perform a clean installation.

No. To change language you have to do a fresh install of a version that
is in the language required. Even within European languages. Bought in
Hong Kong it may have been a cheap pirate version anyway - I certainly
hope it was cheap.

Sure, as long as you have a license for both.
