xp installed in wrong partition

Hi

I have two partitions on disk. I began installing xp, deleted and formatted
primary partition and let the set-up finish the install. Once finished the
set-up gave the primary partition drive letter C: and the other one drive
letter D:. The problem is that set-up has also copied ntldr boot.ini etc on
D: (secondary) partition instead of on primary (C:) partition. Why is that
and is there a way to fix it such that xp is only on primary (C:) so I can
delete D: partition should I need to without effecting xp?

Thanks

There is no practical way to fix this other than doing a reinstall. You
cannot expect to either find or change all the explicit drive references in
the registry and other files.

If you have just set up the system, now is the time to just face the fact
that a mistake occurred, wipe the drive and start over, taking care that XP
goes to the intended drive. It'll just be more work to try to fix it
later.

What is it that I need to try differently while reinstalling? I formatted
the relevant partition the last time and instructed the set-up to install in
it. Set-up did create the windows folder in the relevant partition but
copied the ntldr onto the second partition. How can I stop set-up from
copying half the stiff onto second partition during install?

Thanks

I'm guessing you made and formatted two partitions during the install
process? IIRC it installs to the last partition formatted. So start over
but only format C:.
