J

James

System information:

Soyo p4vga with p4 2.8
pc2700 ddr 512mb
Sony dvd r/rw
Benq cd drive
geoforce fx 5700le video card
150mb western digital drive

Problem:

I cannot install an OEM version win xp professional I
bought from tigerdirect. While installing, the systems
stops responding and/or freezes. I have tried
reinstalling at least 10 times and still does not work.
Also, I have done clean installs, so why can't I install
win xp?

Hi,

Check and recheck hardware detection and jumper settings. Check cabling, do
not overclock, and check the ram. Remove all unessential hardware.

Hi James,

That's because you need SP1 to work with drives over the 128GB mark for
48-bit LBA support. The alternative is to attach the drive to a add-on card
that has its own driver support for it.

Sorry, should've seen that in your specs.
