XP Install refuses to install on RAID

I try to install XP on my new computer with the following relevant
configuration for my problem:

ASUS P5WD2 motherboard
Pentium D processor
2 x Samsung SATA2 250 GB harddisks (SP2504C)
....

Here is the problem: When running XP installation, I hit F6 when requested,
but... nothing happens, that is, XP Setup does not let me choose the drivers
but just goes on with installation.

I have upgraded the BIOS to 0501.

First, this couldn't be possibly be a keyboard problem. (It is new MS and
works during the rest of the XP setup.)

Both harddisks have been recognized by the BIOS and I have successfully
configured RAID0 (the harddisks are on both master SATA ports).

I also have the same problem with both 32bit and 64bit XP. Exactly the same
stupid result.

What is the problem?? Everybody else seems to get to the RAID driver setup
during XP installation...

Best regards,
Bjorn

With any new computer, before it even runs one should.Power off(unplug),
remove the battery, locate the boards CMOS jumper pin, move the pin from
1-2 to 2-3 position for .30-.45 seconds,then back to 1-2,replace
battery,start
computer. You'll need to reset date/time and adjust for RAID and any add ons
in the BIOS.As far as F6 goes, does the floppy disk get accessed and show
the drivers,is youre keyboard plugged to usb,try useing the PS/2 keyboard
plug only. The above should fix youre problem...

I just got a new system with RAID and noticed the same thing. I have a USB
keyboard and so if you do too that might be the problem. The keyboard works
in every other place except this particular part of the setup process.

If you want to install your RAID drivers you can ignore pressing F6 and let
the setup run its course. At some point it will tell you it could not
recognise the disk and prompt you to install the drivers from a floppy by
pressing 'S'.

Hope that solves your problem! :)

Your posts get worse every day. There is no legitimate reason to remove the
battery and clear the CMOS on a new motherboard.

The fact you are trying to help is appreciated, but learn a little bit about
what you are posting about.
The vast majority of your recent posts have been useless, and some posts
could be potentially harmful.
