XP Install Disk

Hi,

I have XP Home installed on my computer at home. I want to upgrade it to XP
Pro. I purchased a copy of Windows XP Pro. The "End Item Part Number" on the
XP Pro disk is E85-03210. Can this be used to do an upgrade? (upgrade over
top of XP Home)

Or can this only be used to do a clean install?

I want to do an upgrade so I don't have to reinstall all my other programs.

Thanks in advance,

Tom

If you have a "full install" retail package it can also be used for
upgrades.

If you have an O.E.M. CD, it can only be used for a clean format/install. It
is meant for computers without an operating system.

Hi, Thanks for the reply. How do I tell if it is a "full install" or an "OEM"
CD? Can the "End Item Part Number" E85-03210 somehow be used to determine
this?

Thanks,

Tom

Where did you get it, what did you pay?
On the COA label it should state whether it is OEM or not.

Hi, I called MS install tech support and they determined that it was a full
version of XP Pro which can be installed over top of XP Home (which is just
what I needed). We did the install and it worked great. All my programs and
3rd party applications are still there.

I'm now all set.

Thanks,

Tom
