XP image thumbnails only displaying as icon, no preview

A short while ago i had a weird problem occur that i cant
get rid of. Win XP decided that it no longer wanted to
display image preview thumbnails, and now only displays
the file type icon instead of the normal mini preview.
This is well annoying, it only does it for images, video
files etc still preview ok. Bizzare.

Does anyone know how to sort this, i'm guessing its gonna
be a tweak or a fix of the registry.

Try this, maybe it will restore the option:

go to...Start / Run and type:

"REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL"
(without the quotes)(Yes, there's
a space between 2 and S)

Click...OK.

A dialog box should report the following:

"DllRegisterServer in SHIMGVW.DLL succeeded"

Thanks for that John, i played with the registry a little
bit (was prob asking for trouble) but now it works.
I had to a add a new persistant handler section to
the .jpg bit it in the reg and then copied the value over
from a different image file, like .tiff.

After a reboot, everything is hunky dory again.

Thanks for the update.

Just wondering...how did you know to try that?

FWIW...my values are not the same:

tiff {58F2E3BB-72BD-46DF-B134-1B50628668FB}
