XP- How Do I hook up dsl line to fax?

I have a dsl line & dsl modem. How do I hook/route up the line to activate the faxing services in Wn xp?
Do I need a splitter?
I have the phone line running into the back of the dsl modem right now.

Splitter/filter in wall socket. Non filtered line to DSL modem. Filtered
line to dialup modem.

in order to send receive FAX you must have a dial up modem
installed in your pc. you can't use the DSL modem for this
purpose.

A dual connector is necessary, one phone line to the DSL,
one to the modem.

You use the voice side of the DSL connection just as you would use a
regular phone line. Which means that (where you would plug in a handset
to make calls) goes either to an independent fax machine, or goes into a
regular fax modem on the PC, with the FAX software that comes with that
