Hello,
A friend of mine had an issue with her pc. She was in the middle of a virus
scan and the cat accidently stepped on the power switch of the surge
protector, shutting down the pc. Ever since then windows will not start. Try
to do a Norton GoBack and restore the system, but it fails. Try by-passing
goback and starting windows normally, or in safe mode and I am unsuccesful
everytime. It will start to boot but then eventually the pc will re-boot.
We purchased a new HDD, formatted it and everything is up and running now. I
re-installed the old hardrive so that i can transfer her old files onto the
new HDD. I can not access it becaus ethere is no drive letter. Goto computer
management, disk management.
The drive is there but I can not assing a drive letter because when i right
click, it is NOT highlighted. Also what is weird is, she had XP Home on
orignally so the file system should be NTFS, and she had to partitions C and
D. In Disk management the drive shows up as FAT32 and 1 partition. Says it is
Online, Healthy, and Active.
I need to get this fixed so that I can access the drive and retrieve all of
her old data. Is there away to fix this or is she SOL??? Both HDD are SATA
Drives
I appriciate any help I can get Thank you.
