Hey all;
Heres a question. Have "XP Home installed on my celeron pc right now,
with over 760mgs of ram. Having some software problems, and suspect bad
software from computer seller. Have XP Media edition disks. Can I install on
this computer. Ran the compatability wizard. Says no conflicts or problems.
Can I install this with the certificate that is on this pc?

You cannot use a product key for XP Home with an installation CD for Media
Center. Product key and version of XP have to match.

Hi Rock,

Further to your note to Jim Hood..I am in a similar situation.

I currently have XP Home on my primary computer and I need to re-install but
I have upgraded the hard drive with the "special partition" that held the old
XP home info on it. Can I use my OEM XP Home SP2 media (from a second
computer) to reinstall XP Home on my primary computer? I do have the
installation key for my primary computer - the only difference would be that
my original XP Home install was SP1 and my current media is SP2.

Thanks in advance!
