XP Home to XP Pro upgrade

I am considering an upgrade from XP Home to XP Pro and have already installed
SP2 on my Home version.

The only review listed on the MS MarketPlace page for XP Pro upgrades says,
" XP Home to XP Professional

Comments:
No upgrade path after application of SP2. Bought package and have to return
it."

My question is... is this true? Can I upgrade after installing SP2 without
a problem?

How about if I uninstall SP2 (can this be done?)...upgrade tp XP Pro...then,
re-install SP2.

Unless SP2 is integrated into XP Pro, then one cannot
upgrade an existing XP Home w/SP2 installation using
a non-SP2 version of XP Pro. What you need to do is
create a SP2 "slipstreamed" version of XP Pro, then use
the new CD to upgrade over XP Home w/SP2.

You have two options:

1. Uninstall SP2 from XP Home, then upgrade to XP Pro.

or

2. Create a SP2 slipstreamed version of XP Pro (preferred)
and use the new XP Pro w/SP2 to upgrade.

Either one of the following utilities makes slipstreaming
(integrating) SP2 into Windows XP a breeze:

First of all, why? Are you sure you want to do this? Are you
aware that XP Home and Professional are identical except that
Professional includes a few features (mostly related to security
and networking) missing from Home? Most home users don't need and
would never use these extra features and will see no benefits by
upgrading

and have already
installed SP2 on my Home version.

Yes, but if you have SP2 installed, and your XP Professional
Upgrade is without it, it will be an older version than what's
installed and you'll get an error message preventing you from
installing it..

You have two choices:

1. Uninstall SP2, do the upgrade, then reinstall SP2.

2. Create a slipstreamed version of XP Professional, including
SP2 and use it. See

Hi Ken...thanks for the response. The reason I need to upgrade to XP Pro is
for the IIS support. I am studying web development and in order to use
ColdFusion MX, I must have XP Pro to run scripts on my own computer
(localhost).

OK, then you have a real reason to upgrade. Unfortunately many
people do it without a real reason, and end up wasting their
money.

You should get a Pro Upgrade CD that includes SP2 already - these are
now appearing in the shops with a prominent 'New - Security. . . ' flash
on the box. Otherwise you would have to uninstall the SP2, upgrade,
install it again, which is rather a pain, and a bit fraught
