XP Home to Professional

I have an old XP Home PC that has a dead drive. I also have an old XP Professional hard drive which I put in the XP Home chassis.

I've downloaded all the proper drivers, but there are certain things I cannot do. Do I have to reformat the drive and reinstall XP Home?
