XP Home SP2 wireless, and other, issues

I have 2 computers on a wired network and then a laptop on wireless all
connected to a Linksys wireless router. The problem is with my laptop (an
AMD Athlon 64 with 512 RAM) when I install SP2 for XP Home. With SP1, the
wireless network and my laptop work without a hitch. When I install SP2,
Windows tells me there is no available wireless network (no settings have
been changed). I've tried the network wizard and recreating the network
several times with no luck. If I do get it to connect it's only for a few
seconds and then never again, and definitely after rebooting. Also, when
shutting down with SP2, the laptop hangs at the "Windows is shutting down"
screen and forces me to press and hold the power button to power off. This
does not happen with SP1. This is also with a fresh install of WinXP and SP2.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

For your first problem:
Check out the support in Linksys website:
http://www.linksysfix.com/check/filter/index1.htm?CallerID=SP

For your second problem:
Check out the page below, scroll down to "The computer stops responding when
you try to shut down or restart the computer", try the methods one by one,
each before a non-safe-mode shut down (try a method, shut down not in safe
mode, if unsucessful, try next method, if sucessful, don't need to try other
methods), do not try method 5 until you have done other methods, method 5 is
about repairing Windows.

Good luck!
