XP Home pauses on boot up

Hi,
I am running XP home and when it boots up I get the XP screen with the
scrolling blue dots , then that screen disapears and there is a pause of up
to 30 seconds before the "Welcome" screen appears, sometimes it just sticks
before the welcome screen and I have to re-boot. I have re-installed only two
days ago and the new installation is also doing this, any help appreciated to
solve this.

It's likely a Network initialization issue or a driver/service that may
be "Timing out". Best diagnostic tool is the Event Log Viewer. It
will hold any warnings/errors that have been reported. Best to open
Event Viewer, clear all logs & reboot - then check. This will give
you a clear indication of a fresh boot sequence and what events it
has logged.
Click Start, Run (Type) EventVwr.Msc [Enter]
Select log from Left Pane and entries appear in Right Pane.
Right Click on specific Log name and take "Clear All Events"

IMHO it would be far better to generate a boot log and analyze that. XP can
do it or here is a free tool that will help.
