XP Home File Permissions Issue

I

Ian

I need to access files that I have backed up on a TrueCrypt NTFS drive.
The files were backed up from my work computer that disallow any reads
except for the file owner, so my home laptop can't read the files. My
home laptop has WinXP Home, so I can't change file permissions. Also,
since the files are on a TrueCrypt drive that I can't mount while in
safe mode, I can't login via Safe Mode to modify the ACLs.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Ask your IT department at work or try the TrueCrypt forums.

It sounds to me like TrueCrypt is working exactly as it is supposed to. In
other words there are no back doors. I'm guessing that changing the
ownership of the files will not fix your problem. If the encryption was that
easily bypassed what would be the point of using it.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear. I am the owner and have the password for
the TrueCrypt volume. The problem is that once the volume is mounted,
the ownership and permissions of the files and directories need to be
changed so that my account at home can open them.
