XP Home - Fatal Error when disabling Personal Firewall

I have a DSL network connection. I need to disable the
Personal Firewall to enable a VPN set up.

When i uncheck the Personal Firewall option, i get an
error that referencens the msvcrt.dll

It happens consistently, even when the connection itself
is disabled.

Is there an upgrade to the dll? I can't find one.
