Windows XP XP Home failing to load on Laptop

Hi

I have a Gateway MX6926b laptop with XP Home, AVG free & Zone Alarm.

Windows starts to load but errors with UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME error code 0x000000ED.

If I use the Gateway Recovery Disc & press R the recovery program starts to load but then errors with DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error code 0x000000D1 & lists file iaStor.sys.

Any advise how to resolve this problem would be gratefully received.

Download Ultimate Boot CD and use the tools to test your memory and hard drive.
