XP HOME EDITION LOADING FAX COMPONENT

D

David 33

In trying to load the FAX component I get " The file "fxscfgwz.dll" on
Windows XP Home Edition CD is needed . In putting the XP CD into "D" OR E
readers nothing happens. The " Copy from" slot displays " &$\i386"
I am unable to resolve this problem. Advice needed please.

SURELY REALLY FED UP

how do i solve the problem

Browse the CD and if the file is found, copy it to the C:\Windows\i386
folder. Or, when prompted, type in the path to the folder on the CD.
It might be D:\i386, E:\i386, or D:\Windows\i386 e.g. I've never tried
this so I don't know that it would help.

Does anyone have any input on how to solve this? I have the same exact
problem. This windows OS is a JOKE! It's like an OLD Broken toy that MAY
work corectly here and there. Six PC's I own are not worth 1/1000th of a
MAC! Yup, folks just buy Apple, Windows will be the cornerstone on the
downfall of this planet! If the software is windows based OPEN THE WINDOW
and throw it OUT! LOL

Download or expand from the xp disk,

fxscfgwz.dll
fxsclntR.dll
fxscount.h
fxsext.ecf
fxsocm.dll
fxsperf.ini
fxsroute.dll
fxssend.exe
fxstiff.dll
fyi.cov
generic.cov
MIGRATE.DLL
urgent.cov

Put them in a folder on your hard drive and when the install asks, browse to
that folder. I downloaded them from some place but don't have the address
anymore. If you wish to post a good email, I will sent them to you. Only
about 500kb.

When it say: "The file "fxscfgwz.dll" on
Windows XP Home Edition CD is needed" type your drive name where you XP CD
are loaded: In my case it was D so I wrote D:\i386 and press enter and it
worked, the missing file was found and the FAX component was loading, I hope
this also will help you?

If you are desperate try this:

Download SBS2003-KB884032-X86-ENU.EXE from Update for Windows Small Business
Server 2003: KB 884032. The executable contains the fxs files but getting to
them is tricky.

1) Download SBS2003-KB884032-X86-ENU.EXE
2) Execute SBS2003-KB884032-X86-ENU.EXE
3) When (or if) the error message pops up do not close it.
4) Find the newly created temporary directory and copy the files from the
update sub-directory to a permanent directory.
5) Close the error message
6) You should now have the fxs files in directory you can use when you
install the FAX component.

This is dangerous but it worked and so far the only problem I had was the
"Add or Remove Programs" in Control Panel not working which required a reboot.

Hope this works.

I would appreciate any help. I am not tech wise. I just try things and see
if anything explodes. I have been trying to load the fax for DAYS and and
had no luch whatsoever and I don't want efax. At this point I may have to
just go buy a fax machine. Your offer of the files is the only hope I've had
in days and I hope you're serious. I have downloaded and hunted for files
til I'm sick of it. I actually need the fax too which makes it more
annoying. Usually I'm just playing around. btw, I have no idea what a good
email is. this is what I can babble right now. those files would be ever so
appreciated! ((hugs)) pommom

A good email would be one that I could send the files to and you would get
them but that's ok. I uploaded them to you send it. Click on the link and
download the file.
http://download.yousendit.com/6E9B367300F3FA5F
Unzip it and when you try to install the fax service it will be looking for
the "fxscfgwz.dll"
Click the browse button and go to the fax files folder I have sent. Click
the fxscfgwz.dll and then ok. Windows should do the rest.

Please, Claggy, could you send me those files by e-mail? I have exactly
the same problem: bought a laptop without an installation disk, and
don't have those files anywhere on my computer - so my fax doesn't
work!
Am I allowed to post my e-mail address on this forum, or how do I find
yours? (This is my first posting, so I don't know the nettiquette for
this forum!)
Strix - one way would be to google for the dll`s .
