XP home edition in a domain

Hi,

I have 5 laptops with XP home edition, all of them are connecting with my
domain server without any problem but one.

Everytime we logon with that laptop, the server is asking for a username and
a password.

The account has been created on both the laptop and the PDC with same
username and password but it is still asking to enter it the first time we
connect to the shares on the servers. This is very annoying. What is weird,
is the pop up window gives us a name when asking to identify with the
server, and its not the one we are using to logon !! ?

Why this laptop has this problem and not the otherones ?

This is normal with XP HOME. It does not save credentials and automatically
reconnect to shares. (This is often confused with the issue of domain
membership, but is a distinct issue.) This can be worked around in a batch
file, though it may raise a security concern.

See the Tech Tips and Downloads page at
http:// [Remove this and spaces] www. gtscomputerservice. com

I have a sample batch file there called "EasyMap" that might help.
