XP Home Edition Backup

Craig Duvall

My wife's pc has XP Home Ed. while mine has XP Pro.
1. The XP Home Ed. did NOT come with a traditional backup
utility. Where can I find a compatible backup ? ?

2. Will/Is/Can this XP Home Ed. backup be compatible with
my XP Pro. backup/restore ? ? We would like to be able to
backup each other's PC.

Any help would be appreciate.

You can install the same program on a Home machine; if it is a retail
Home CD then look in Valueadd\Msft\backup for the ntbackup.msi r-click
and Install. Or there are locations posted every now and then in this
group from which it can be downloaded. The one thing it will not do is
make a Auto System Restore floppy as it will under Pro. And note that
it is a tape oriented program; to output to CD/DVD at all you need a
packet writing package like InCD, and at that it will not 'span' over a
set of disks, so it is really not suitable for using them as media
