XP Home Addition nolonger sees IEEE 1394 device: harddrive.

XP nolonger sees my external harddrive.
Below is the only thing I could find to help me with my
problem...and as you can see it does not help. I am using
XP home addition. I found help for other Win versions.

Your Serial Bus Protocol 2 Devices Are Not Connected
After You Restart Your Computer

SYMPTOMS
When you restart your computer, some of your Serial Bus
Protocol 2 (SBP-2) devices such as IEEE 1394 devices may
not be connected. This symptom may occur if your computer
is using several SBP-2 devices.
RESOLUTION
A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it
is only intended to correct the problem that is described
in this article. Apply it only to computers that are
experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive
additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely
affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you
wait for the next Windows XP service pack that contains
this fix.

To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft
Product Support Services to obtain the fix. For a
