Mike

I am going to reinstall xp pro on a new hard drive (My
current Win XP hard drive crashed today)! While I am at it
I am going to upgrade motherboard and cpu as well. Will I
be able to install Win XP again on new motherboard and new
hard drive?

Thanks
Mike

Yes, but whether you can activate depends on what you have
for an install disk. If it is OEM image it probably won't
install on a different makers mobo. If it is an OEM XP disk
the EULA allows for repair installs, but you may need to
call in for activation if less than 120 days since
activation.

Retail may still require the call, but the only restriction
is one computer at a time.

Thanks for the fast reply. I have an OEM XP PRO disk. I
guess I will rebuild my computer and call microsoft for
reactivation. I hope they are friendly!!!!

Just install normally and try the on-line activation...if it
has a problem you will be shown the phone number to call,
just report the REPAIR of your computer and they will give
you a code to activate. Be sure to write it down.
