I have the same problem with SP2. Downloaded boot disks on floppies,
installed, only to have frozen Windows logo appear at every start-up and
reboot. Any help as to why this is would be great!

If XP Pro boots correctly but XP Home does not, then you know that
something starting with XP Home is the culprit. It could be a driver,
some software program, malware, etc. There is no way for us to know at
this point. To start troubleshooting, go into Safe Mode for XP Home and
do a clean boot.

I cannot get to any GUI/Windows interface. I must use DOS commands. The copy
of Windows just does not boot.

Thank you so much for responding to my question. I have spent hours trying
to get this box back up. The setup disks made me even think I had
re-formatted the drive and could load a clean copy from my XP2 CD. But it
always freezes at the black Windows start-up screen.

OK, so you can't get into Safe Mode. I assume you also tried Last Known
Good Configuration with no success. If you didn't, please do so now and
report back.

Is XP Home installed on a separate hard drive or on a separate partition
of a single physical hard drive? What boot manager are you using? And do
you know what changed between the time things worked and the time they
didn't?

Can you see the XP Home files from within the XP Pro install?

I'm happy to try and help you but I need more information about your
physical setup and what happened, etc. BTW, thanks for the nice
compliment about my silly website. :-)
