XP Freeze

Hi,

Got myself a new laptop with an OEM XP Pro SP1 installed. System only has
got an Office XP 2003 SBE installed. Internet connection is thru dial-up
account with a local ISP. I then installed XP SP2. The laptop freezes at
random interval, at times when I'm doing work in Office, or when I left it
alone. I figured there was an issue with SP2 that I may not be aware of... I
proceeded to format and reinstall XP Pro and Office XP. System still freeze
at random interval, albeit at a reduced frequency.

On subsequent analysis through system eventlog, I noticed that the system
freeze happen only after I connect to the Internet via dial-up... if I don't
dial up, I don't experience a freeze. Any ideas anyone?

Yeah I have a suggestion - get rid of that dial-up!

Check on the OEM's website for updated drivers for you modem for your
specific laptop model.
