XP freexes

My system runs XP Pro with SP2. recently it has started freezing after it
has booted. Sometimes it won't re-boot when I use the re-set button on the
front of the tower so i have to disconnect and re-connect the power supply,
and then boot up as normal. Sometimes it won't boot up from then. Over the
weekend i tried a clean install from my XP CD (not OEM), and when it got to
the part where it say 'startup is loading windows' it freezes, and that's it.

Can anyone help please?

Check your memory modules. If memory is corrupt the OS will hang or crash. I
always use a diskette that boots with memtest.

good luck

As mentioned before, to test memory I use memtest. Firtst you have to make a
bootCD or floppydisk. You can find info and downloads at
http://www.memtest86.com/ For Floppy you can download a zipfile containing
the files to make the bootdisk by choosing "Download - Pre-Compiled
Memtest86 v3.2 installable from Windows and DOS " for CD dowload the ISO and
burn the CD. Read the manual for other questions.

have fun
