I have linksys router with win xp sp1 and was told by cisco tech support, i
do not need hardware and software firewall. Zone alarm or norton firewall
have created problems (Freezing up!) in the past. As other have raised
concern regarding this issue, i have tried both turning firewall off from XP
and leaving on and tested. Yes, it did not crash my computer while leaving on
firewall as some have raised concern but it did slow down. on the other hand
Zone alarm free or pro did monitor each intruder as friendly site or
dangaerous, malicious site were placed on check and hover for permission to
enter or block. Zone alarm did verify the site on many cases but in some
cases it has no information about some site even though it was valid,
legimate and good site!
