XP, faxing and SP2

Hi all....

This one has been bugging me for a while.....

I have an XP workstation that was a clean install from a CD including SP1.
MS shared faxing works fine until SP2 is installed, then all I get is "Driver
Not installed"

If I try to install faxing after SP2, then I have the same problem. This
issue only applies to ONE workstation on my network, and I would really much
prefer to have SP2 on this system for security reasons!

If there is anyone who can help or give me ideas of things to try.... please
let me know.

TIA

It sounds like some fax related driver needs to be reinstalled. This may be
part of an OEM support software package for a specific multifunction device.
It's also possible that the OEM XP drivers are not SP2 compatable. (My case
with some Brother all in one support software) With the brother I have.
remote users can use XP-SP2, but not the PC configured to provide management
support for the all in one.

If you have a workstation that is hardware identical, and can image the XP
install, and have a way of changing the keys, and the XP version is generic
rather than machine specific, I'd consider using that route. XP faxing is
flaky, and in general is not designed for sharing without use of MS or third
party fax server software or a server system.
