XP fails installing webcams

B

bortolani

When installing a USB webcam on my XP system I get a message saying
something like: "Impossible to find the required section in the INF
file" (It's a translation from Italian).
This happens after the system has rtecognized the device and found the
Driver (that had been installed previously).

This happens with two different webcams that work fine on another XP
ssytem (so this means the Drivers are OK and the hardware works).

Any idea?

Thanks,
Bruno

This message usually means that somebody tried to
install on XP a driver for win98 by brute force or by error.
Contact the camera manufacturer support and ask
how to remove the wrong INF.

You may be right.
In fact while installing the same camera on other XP system it says
that the driver is meant for Win '98 but then it proceeds OK with
installation.
I'm afraid there are no updated drivers, or at least the version I have
are declared by the manufacturers to be XP compatible :-|

Thanks,
Bruno
