When I run certain DOS games that require EMS on my home
PC (XP Pro/Asus A7V/Athlon 1.0GHz/384MB SDRAM). I am able
to set a EMS memory value very simply by editing the
properties of my .pif file. However when I try the same
thing on my laptop (Also XP Pro/Sony Vaio/PIII
850MHz/384MB SDRAM). I get 0 (zero) EMS. No matter what
value I set it to. Does that mean NTVDM.EXE is hardware
dependand when it comes to EMS? Does it actually
allocate an EMS block? Is that why my laptop can't do it?
Can't it just emulate EMS? Anyone have any clues on how
I can get this to work on my laptop?
Thanks,
