XP Desktop has completely disappeared!

My desktop page in XP Home Edition has completely disappeared. I have moused
all over monitor screen to find it and grab it but all that appears is the
wallpaper. No start button or start bar. Does anyone have an idea how I can
get it back? Thanx.

Hmm. did you use Ctrl + Esc key to see if it opens up start menu ? If yes, it
seems to have frozed. Try using Ctrl + Alt+ Del to invoke task manager. End
the tasks which seems to consume more memory.

If that too does not help, boot in safe mode ( restart, use F8 key during
startup to safe mode). If it boots in safe mode fine, run a clean boot
