I've read that other people have had this same problem
that I'm having. Now the funny thing is, I had NO issues
when I first loaded up my XP and then the games.. they
all ran just fine. Somewhere between then and now they
begin to crash & I believe it is somewhere in either
Direct-X or the compatability between my video card &
XP. I have uninstalled/reinstalled ALL my drivers..
updated them to WQHL cert. I've tried it with 8.1 Direct
X, then with DX9 and same issue. I've gotten all updates
for Windows & ive cut down the acceleration. I've checked
all loaded up programs & cut all non-essential ones.. I
have reformatted my HD once already & installed NOTHING
but the basics along with updated Vid drivers & STILL the
same issue. I am using a AOpen Nvidia GeForce4 MX440 V- 64
video card & have 512 Megs of ram with a 40g HD & 1.7ghz
Athlon CPU. My computer has no reason to do this & no one
seems to have an answer either at my Vid card
manufacture's site or even at Nvidia's. Can SOMEONE
please shed some light on this and not give a runaround??
I'm a veteran at the computer so give me something to
work with. Thank you!!
.

Did you read my post about 15 minutes before you posted? Have you tried to
see what the error is? It would be very helpful to have the same of the
games with which you're having problems, plus information about your
system - graphics and sound cards, how much memory you're running, any
over-clocking? Details, details.

It is really insufficient just to say "same problems." We need details so
we can help work through the issues.

Sticks = memory modules. Computers usually have four slots for them, with
one or two used in matching pairs. Jimmy posts this site for checking the
Random Access Memory (RAM): http://www.memtest86.com . They have a
downloadable file: http://www.memtest86.com/memt30.zip Read the
instructions, and give your system the test.

The other thing which can be happening is overheating of the system. If it
doesn't have sufficient fans to keep the components, including the CPU, cool
enough, overheating can cause oddball things to happen.

If you're not familiar with the inside the computer case, you may want to
talk with a tech at your local computer store or rely on a computer-savvy
friend to help you learn before you embark on opening the case. The wrong
"bump" of a part or touching things with a magnetic screwdriver can fry a
computer.
